Top 10 Nations with the Biggest Labour Force

India

India, one of the most populous democracies in the world, is second on the list of countries with the biggest labour force. The seventh largest country in the world has a labour force of approximately 49.84 crore. Though this newly industrialized country is plagued by poverty, corruption and illiteracy, the market-based economic reforms post 1991 have made India emerge as one of the fastest growing economies in the world.       

Telecommunications, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, machinery, biotechnology and technology are the major industries in the country, while the service sector make up more than 50 percent of the country’s GDP.  

United States

With a labour force 15.49 crore, the world’s largest single national economy is slotted at the third position on the list. The world’s largest manufacturer and arguably the wealthiest nation on the planet, has a well developed infrastructure and maintains a highly productive labour force that supports the various activities of the nation.
