An IT security manager, also known as data security officer or data security manager, is mainly responsible for setting up organizational policies, procedures and methods to protect sensitive data and information from being compromised. They are in charge for putting in place appropriate system security policies that can eliminate computer hackers, viruses and other threats associated with data security.

As per Michael Kirven, increased exposure of sensitive data online, security threats and a higher demand for certified information systems security professionals have driven up the pay packages that companies are willing to shell out to lure proficient talent in this field.

The median pay packages for an IT security manager is approximately in the range of 4.90 lakh to 17.46 lakh per annum, as listed on the PayScale website.
