In this category numerous job fall under this profession like the personal assistants of top level management executives, serving as an administrative supporter, receptionists, office clerks etc. So, before the recession started, whenever the executives were promoted to management level positions, they were given their own secretaries or administrative assistants to keep updating them about their daily activities. Those daily activities included, scheduling the meetings, managing files, attending the phone calls of their managers etc. But that is not the scenario anymore, says Susan Fenner, Manager of education at the International Association of Administrative Professionals. She is of that opinion because right now these professionals have started working for multiple executives and in some cases they have started working for all the departments in the company.

So, as of now, as there is no much demand for personal assistants, people who were working for one particular manager are seeking a better career option, which they consider to be a last longing one.
