Kenneth Lonchar, a winner of CFO magazine’s Excellence Award for Managing External Stockholder, fell from grace when the false claims of his academic credentials were revealed. It was discovered that he had never received an MBA degree from Stanford as he had claimed. It was also uncovered that he got his accounting degree from Idaho State and not from Arizona State University as he had also claimed.
Thereafter, Lonchar was asked to resign as his company’s credit rating was downgraded and the shares dropped by as much as 20 percent.

George O’Leary was forced to resign as the head coach of Notre Dame Football team just five days after being hired, on the grounds of lying about his academic and athletic background. He had claimed that he had a master’s degree in education and had played for the college football team for three years.
