Does Professional Course Fee Hike Affect the Common Man?
Speaking to the Hindu, Karnataka Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, who also holds the Higher Education portfolio said that “With general price rise and over 22.5 per cent increase in salaries of lecturers [in accordance to the All-India Council for Technical Education pay scale revision], the increase in fee charged by private colleges had to be agreed to.”
Although the government and the college officials believes that there should be considerable fee hikes in colleges as students need to engage on an increased amount of the institution’s budget expenditures to help cover the costs of providing them education. But the question arises here is that ‘Are we not failing to understand that the young aspirants of our country belonging from middle or lower middle class families are affected by the fee hike each year?’ Yes, there are many eligible candidates belonging from the middle and the lower middle class families in India, who are affected by the college fee hikes, as they have to give up their ambition because of poor financial conditions. The Government of our country along with the college officials should take the matter of professional fee hike, into consideration so that the talents of commoners do not go in vein.
