#13. Lithuania

Jobless Rate: 13.1 Percent

Despite of the initial hiccups, Lithuania seems to be on the positive side of economic growth lately. Though the country has excelled in telecommunication infrastructure and education, unemployment still remains a concern. Meanwhile, the ruling government in the country is optimistic that the economy will return to pre-recession level by 2014.  

#14. Egypt

Jobless Rate: 12 Percent

Egypt is currently a country in turmoil. Positive economic reforms in the country since the beginning of the century propelled economic growth to about 5 percent annually. However, this development never trickled down and reached the masses, thus pushing the people into a financial misery.

The recent unrest is not helping the cause of the country and has essentially made  matters worse.  

#15. Italy

Jobless Rate: 11. 9 Percent

Italy’s image as a world power has recently taken a beating. It is severely affected by recession, and in fact, as per Eurostat, which is EU’s statistics body, the country’s public dept is 116 percent of GDP in the year 2010. These numbers are second only to Greece, which was at 126.8 percent.

Global rating agencies such as Moody’s and Standard & Poor slashed Italy’s sovereign debt rating in 2011, which further added to the misery of the nation.
