Best Counters To 9 Common Interview Questions
8. What Can You Do For Us That Someone Else Can't?
This is a common question in sales type roles where the ability to spot a USP (Unique Selling Point) is vital. Do bear in mind that the selling point that you can bring that no-one else can, is YOU!
An ideal answer to this question can be something like, “Though you might find a number of candidates with skills that are in line with the proficiency that I bring on to the table, I believe I have a distinctive combination of skills and understanding which is coupled with a wholehearted desire to learn and develop further.”
9. Why Did You Leave Your Previous Employer, Or Why Are You Leaving Your Present Job?
The economic downtime has pushed many talented professionals out of work, so don't be embarrassed to simply say that you were a part of a downsizing. If you were fired due to performance issues, it is better to merely say that you parted ways and center the conversation on how your skill set are in line with the current open position. If you are currently employed, center your attention on why you're seeking greater opportunity, challenges or responsibilities. Back your answers with strong references and be prepared to counter every possible query by the recruiter.
