Ex-Googler Says Google+ has Ruined the Company
Bangalore: Many of you would have dreamt about working in Google as it is considered to be one of the most desirable places to work. But now, you must think again before dreaming for a career at Google because recently a former Google Executive has given a statement that can shock you! Yes, James Whittaker, a former Google engineer has said that Google is no longer a best workplace by describing the reason why he left Google, reports David Goldman on CNN Money Website.
James a Microsoft-turned Google engineer now again a Microsoft employee, was heading an engineering team for the social network Google + before he left the company. He says that ‘the Google he was so passionate about’ was a technology company that created a platform for its employees to innovate. But when he resigned from it, Google had turned out to be an advertising company with a single corporate-mandated focus.
Whittaker, who had joined Google in 2009 resigned last month and he clearly divided the corporate culture over there into two eras namely, “Before Google+,” and “After Google+”. According to him, Google before the starting the social networking site Google+ was creating an excellent opportunity to its engineers by giving them sufficient time and resources to be creative. This kind of an experimental approach yielded several home-run successes like the Google Chrome and Gmail. But the company fell behind severely in one key area i.e. while competing with another social network giant Facebook.
