5 Degrees that Can Leave You Deserted After Graduation

#3. Information Science:

Most people think that a major in information science offers unlimited job opportunities, which is not true. Hence it can be beneficial for an aspiring individual to think twice before opting to leap into this degree.

As per College Board, a nonprofit organization that promotes excellence in higher education, an information science degree program only provides a general understanding of human-computer interactions, information architecture and multimedia systems.  As per Safani, this general understanding is not enough. It is a fact that most employers prefer to hire candidates with hardcore technical skills over theoretical ones, and unfortunately information science programs are inclined towards more theory than practical. This can be a disadvantage when it comes to job search post graduation, as recent grads in this field may find it hard to measure up or compete with the competence of the grads with a degree in hardcore technical fields such as computer science.
