Google Wants To Know Whether Candidates Can Tackle Difficult Projects
Google is renowned for asking some of the toughest interview questions in the business. Despite the fact it found that they weren't that helpful. But now, Google's interviews include questions about the candidate's concrete experiences and what are the difficulties faced through its execution process.
By asking people to speak of their own experiences, Laszlo Block said, you get two kinds of information: "You get to see how they actually interacted in a real-world situation, and the valuable 'meta' information you get about the candidate is a sense of what they consider to be difficult."
Google Wants Candidates with Analytical Skills
The fact that “Why Google doesn’t care about college degrees” is very evident in this trait. Although the search giant is flooded with applicants from Ivy League schools, the upshot is that Google values the skills and experiences that candidates get in college, rather than the degree that doesn’t tell them much about talent or grit.
Block said, "Analytical training gives you a skill set that differentiates you from most people in the labor market."
