Argosy University
Argosy University is a for-profit colleges owned by Education Management Corporation that operates across 28 locations in the United States, as well as an online division.
The university offers programs for Bachelor's, Master's and doctorate level through their seven colleges and has also undergone extensive legal action. In 2009, students of the Argosy University in Dallas filed a lawsuit as recruiters wrongly informed students that the school would soon receive accreditation of their programs in which University paid $3.3 million in settlement fees.
The lawsuit was then followed by several government investigations, including an investigation by the Florida Attorney General and even this came to the same conclusion. By this you can say that Argosy is no stranger to fraud and dishonesty.
Corinthian Colleges
Corinthian Colleges was one of the largest post-secondary education companies in North America, which operated a number of Universities under different headings, including Everest, Heald College and WyoTech. Despite all this credits, the college was forced to shut down after facing an onslaught of lawsuits for fraud, predatory recruiting practices, and general unpleasant behavior. Additionally, of the others Universities on this list, Corinthian Colleges is the only one that has been shut down.
