10 Email Etiquette Rules For Every Professional Out There

Think before hitting “reply all”:

It is normal to think that your work should be done in a swift manner and your mails should reach people fast, but that doesn’t mean you should not check on what to write while sending the mail to many. Also check whether the person you are sending it requires it or not, if not your mail will be ignored. This results in totally ignoring any mails that you send.

Use Formal Salutations:

A professional would always prefer to be formal in his work and his work place. It’s important not to greet them in informal way either in person or through mails. Saying a ‘Hi’ and ‘Hello’ is always the best. If the person prefers to be called by his/her name then you can add it, like ‘Hi George’ or ‘Hello Stella’. Never say ‘Hey’ or ‘Yo’. "The casual nature of your writings should not affect the salutation in an email.

Spare your Exclamation Marks:

In emails, Exclamation marks show your emotions. It is prescribed to be used as less as possible. The reader doesn’t want to know or read your emotions in mails. You can use it to show your excitement but not too much since too much of anything is bad.
