Age discrimination is against the law, so this question is off limits.

Since some employers tend to avoid employing candidates above a certain age due to the fear of higher insurance costs or the potential for more absences, the law has restrained employers from asking questions related to the graduation date or even the birthday date, unless there is some specific job related reason behind the question.

However, employers are permitted to ask questions with regards to how long a particular individual has been associated with a certain industry.
