Tripura has launched a major hiring initiative to fill 1,733 teaching positions, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Monday. Speaking at a government event in Agartala, he said the move is part of the state’s ongoing effort to strengthen the education system and reduce unemployment.

Saha shared that the Education Department has already appointed 6,998 teachers and support staff since 2018. He added that the government has provided jobs to 20,181 people across various departments during the same period, countering claims that job creation has slowed. Another 5,000 individuals have been hired on a contractual basis to support essential services.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to fair recruitment, the Chief Minister emphasized that all hiring is now carried out with 'complete transparency'. He stated that favoritism and recommendation-based appointments common in earlier administrations, no longer influence government job selections.

Saha also noted that critical sectors like health, family welfare, and education will continue to receive priority in staffing. The government is working on a new transfer policy to make postings and movements more structured and equitable.

Addressing medical professionals, he said the state is considering a marking system for MBBS doctors who serve in rural hospitals and plan to pursue MD or MS programs. Currently, doctors must complete three years of rural service to become eligible.

The Chief Minister called the recruitment drive a strong step toward strengthening public services and addressing unemployment across the state.
