State Bank of India (SBI), the nation’s largest lender, is stepping up hiring to boost its operations and improve diversity. The bank plans to recruit around 3,500 officers this year as part of its ongoing expansion and digital transformation drive.

According to Kishore Kumar Poludasu, Deputy Managing Director (HR) and Chief Development Officer, SBI has already inducted 505 probationary officers (POs) in June and is in the process of filling another 541 PO positions. Recruitment follows the standard three-stage process, prelims, mains, and interviews with a psychometric test.

The bank has also added over 1,300 officers for IT and cybersecurity roles to strengthen its digital infrastructure. In addition, 3,000 circle-based officers are set to be recruited this year to enhance branch-level operations across India.

Earlier, SBI announced plans to hire nearly 18,000 employees across clerical, officer, and tech roles to improve customer experience and operational efficiency. In the first quarter alone, the bank added 13,455 junior associates and 505 POs.
