Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), India's leading integrated zinc manufacturer and global industry leader, held a job fair in its Zinc Kaushal Kendra skill development center recently. The fair successfully placed in excess of 500 rural youth from Udaipur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, and Rajsamand in jobs. Over 40 organizations from various sectors, such as banking, tourism, and microfinance, visited the fair, offering jobs to candidates from local communities.
Since the inception of the Zinc Kaushal Kendra initiative, Hindustan Zinc has transformed the lives of more than 7,000 youth from rural India, 40% of whom are female, by imparting skills that are relevant to the market and getting them jobs in India. Through this program, rural areas have been positively impacted, making it possible for young people to close the gap between rural and urban areas.
With training facilities in Dariba, Agucha, Kayad, Udaipur, and Zawar, the program provides short-term, intensive training in retail sales, unarmed security, assistant electricians, food service, and microfinance. Graduates have been able to secure jobs in major cities like Bhilwara, Udaipur, Ajmer, Sanand, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Lonavala, earning between Rs. 14,000 and Rs. 30,000 per month.
Apart from the job fair, Hindustan Zinc also organized a special session with Sufiya Sufi, Health & Fitness Brand Ambassador of Hindustan Zinc. A renowned ultramarathon runner and youth icon, Sufiya was a source of inspiration for participants as she shared her own rags-to-riches story of struggle and grit, encouraging them to chase their career dreams with perseverance.
The Zinc Kaushal Kendra initiative has received acclaim from government representatives and industry captains. Partnerships with organizations like NABARD, YES Foundation, AAVAS Financiers, and Udaipur Cement Works have also boosted the quality and reach of the initiative. Hindustan Zinc continues to work for empowering rural India, creating an independent workforce, and supporting India's economic growth.
