The manufacturing sector in India is booming creating never-before kind of job opportunities as the industry scouts for new skills a report released . On the back of demand, the manufacturing industry in India had grown acutely by 40 percent from June 2022 to June 2023, the latest data from Indeed, a global hiring platform, revealed.

"While becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse remains an aspiration for India, this sector holds ample opportunity both for business and job seekers", says Sashi Kumar, head of sales at Indeed.

Some of these positions within the manufacturing industry have been flourishing. The CNC machine operator position increased by 160 percent. A CNC operator is a skilled technician who has required training and experience with computer numerical controlled equipment and software. Other fast-emergent positions are production supervisors with a rise of 155 percent, and machine operators at a rise of 119 percent. These are accelerated positions which assume the modernization of this sector and its growing need for specialized skills.

As the sector grows, so does the profile of skills; whereas communication skills, now required in 17% of jobs, take prime place, followed by 10% for CNC, manufacturing skills with 9%, English proficiency at 8%, and CNC programming at 6%, the report says.

Manufacturing companies too are attempting to enrich their offerings in an effort to attract better talent. It was noted in the report that employers are now learning that providing full benefits is not only improving satisfaction but also productivity and loyalty in their workforce.

A recent report from the India Brand Equity Foundation has mentioned some of the major triggering factors behind this surge: spur in local consumption, government efforts, global investment, and increasing global demand for Indian-manufactured products.

The major growth trajectory in the manufacturing sector has made India one of the global manufacturing hubs and brought a better tomorrow not only for job aspirants but also for business owners.
