Majors in philosophy and religious studies are basically to acquire the skill and knowledge necessary for a wide range of non-academic jobs. This degree is basically intended to improve the analytic and creative thinking of an individual and make him understand the deeper ethnical dimensions of life. In addition, this degree uniquely prepares an individual not just for practical, on-the-job training, but for both professional and non-professional life. The objective of this degree is to develop the conceptual understanding and creative thinking skills that define educated persons and prepare them for all aspects of life.      

Philosophy might improve your mind, but it won’t do much for your wallet. In fact the salary prospects for a philosophy grad could be called meek. Recent grads make less than grads from other top majors, and the gap narrows only slightly for experienced workers in this field. Our philosophy should be, at least, to opt for a major with a better return on investment.
