Colombia is famous for its flowers, landscape, coffee, gold, wine, ancient ruins, Caribbean beaches, Amazon jungles, snow-capped peaks and beautifully preserved colonial towns. It is the only country in South America which has coastlines on both the North Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea.

However, the major underlying pressures faced by Colombia's internal biodiversity are growing population, lack of infrastructure development with little worry of environmental impact, inadequate use of resources, social and cultural conflicts. Illegal drug trade is the other big problem faced by the people of columbia.

Even as the Colombian economy is stable, strong and the outlook looks promising, but the country has to do much more to ensure that the ongoing boom in commodities contributes to sustainable and inclusive growth over the long-term.
