Total annual cost: $35,705

Surprisingly, the United States of America has not garnered top honors in the list. It is slotted at the second position.  

The falling rupee, rising accommodation prices and higher cost of living have collectively downgraded the image of the U.S. as the most favorable destination for education among Indian and international aspirants.

1. Australia

Annual fees: $25,375

Annual cost of living: $13,140

Total annual cost: $38,510

Defeating the U.S. by a margin of $2,805, Australia has emerged as the most expensive nation for higher education in the world. 

In spite of the recent racist attacks on Indians in the country, it has managed to retain its student friendly image. In fact, it was voted as the most favorable destination to study by 75 percent Indian students in a poll conducted by the Lowy Institute and Australia India Institute.
