Albert Einstein was Unemployed
Strange as it may seem, Albert Einstein, the discoverer of both quantum and relativity theory spent his first two years out of the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School without a full-time job.  In fact, his professors did not support him in search for an academic job, and he was also not allowed to take any teaching posts.
Though Einstein's degree was for teaching physics and math, he was unemployed until he found work as a patent inspector in Bern, Switzerland in 1902.
Einstein's father died shortly after that, thinking that his son was a failure.
