Common Aptitude Test (CAT)
Exam Time: 2days in November
Exam Criteria: 50pct aggregate marks in graduation from recognized colleges or universities
The Indian Institute Management conducts this once in a year exam with the aim of judging an individual’s quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning. Today, CAT is a computer-based exam conducted in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Till 2009, it was a written examination. The results of CAT come out in two formats – raw score and scaled score. CAT scores are considered extremely important during MBA admission in the 13 IIMS and 150 reputed B-school of India. The application starts from last week of July to last week of September.
Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)
Exam Time: First Sunday of January
Exam Criteria: Graduates in any discipline from reputed colleges or universities.
Similar to CAT, this national level aptitude test is conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur, on behalf of Xavier Associate Management Institutes (XAMI). Clearing the exam enhances your chances of joining B-schools of XAMI and over 100 popular B-schools of the country. XAT 2015 was conducted in two international cities – Dubai and Kathmandu. The three hour XAT exam consist of four sections namely (i) Verbal and Logical Ability (ii) Decision Making (iii) Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (iv) General Knowledge.
