The Future Of Education By 2020

The success of tech will still rely on skilled teachers
Jake Schwartz, CEO and cofounder of General Assembly, predicts that as technology advances, its limits will become clear. "‘Online’ is not a cure-all for education issues in this country, but it can help provide greater access to new skills training," he says. "This is powerful when combined with curricula and programming created and led by practitioner educators. The human factor is always important."
So technology has hardly any benefits on the teachers. Their continuous guidance to the students will go on. The dependence on technology will just bring a change in the medium of education imparted. Again if the students can learn the syllabus from the computer and projector or internet; the role of the teacher remains vital as a resource producer, classroom supporter, curriculum designer, Learning Facilitator, mentor and Catalyst for Change. He is the aid and friend between academics and the students. While technology will be more faithful to brilliant students, the teacher has to take care of the overall progress without partiality or demarcation.

We’ll think differently about the diploma
The final goal in today’s education is to get the diploma certificate from different colleges. But what do these certificates guarantee? They are assurance of the fact that a specific candidate has attended tenure in that particular institution for a course. The certificate does not carry a remark about the talent and abilities of the students. Competency-based certifications are far better than these where both employers and job seekers can access the efficiencies of a student. Hence with technology penetrating in the academic houses "A new curriculum is going to be created that builds on these possibilities," says Ferguson, "allowing students to move away from rote learning and tackle real-world challenges and develop solutions for them."
