45 A Roadblock For Women's Career?

BANGALORE: A new report had disclosed the inevitable oblivion of ageism and sexism subjected on women.  The asymmetrical pattern that descended from a linage marked the end of a women's occupation, while men reigned an addition decade in the work metric.

A new research by Ros Altmann, the Government’s Business Champion for Older Workers, observed that men too are subjected to discrimination as women at 45 they are rearward in hierarchy, skills and promotion. However, Women face the worse sentence as they are given a deadline a decade earlier than men, reports The Telegraph

The reason points out to a number of factors, one of which is believed to be child bearing, that makes employees less attractive to managers.

‘‘I would say I know 20 women of my age who – like me – see their careers stalled and ambitions frustrated. I find it highly frustrating; .it is hard to know what to pin it on, but I think the stretch on my CV when I was at home with two young children counts against me for sure.’’ said Genevieve Hayes who recently turned 45

Another factor is that older women are resistant to acquiring new kills. By far this is the worst discrimination set on women.  Jobs predominantly relating to social media and IT knowledge are prejudicial grounds that label older women as inept and less competent of being retrained. The most atrocious and appalling case of discrimination that makes 40+ women grind their teeth in anger is that employers want young, female staff who ‘‘look a certain way.’’

Helena Smith, 48, a director of a small Kent-based communications company believes that part of the problem lies with the employer’s perception on older women are assumed to be more   difficult ..

Dianah Worman, Diversity Advisor at the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, concurred with the report stating that the report draw attention to a huge waste of talent. ‘‘It is not in the best interests of employers to let talent go under-used like this. You fuel costs by constantly rehiring and always looking for new younger less experienced staff.’ She said.
