Panjab University- India's New Flag Bearer on the Global Stage
Bangalore: India has a new flag-bearer in the global academic rankings. And it is not the usual entrants such as the IITs or the IISc, but it is debutant, Panjab University, which is one step closer to enter the elite 200 club, reports Manash Pratim Gohain of TNN.
In the latest Times Higher Education’s (THE) World University Rankings announced in London, the Chandigarh based Panjab University made a more than an impressive debut by garnering a slot among the group of universities ranked between 226-250. And in the process it left behind the IITs, which have so far represented India on the global stage.
The good news doesn’t end there; India has five entries in the top 400 list, which is the best ever performance by the country. Other Indian entries include the likes of IIT-Delhi, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Kharagpur and IIT-Roorkee, all of which are slotted in the group of universities ranked between 351-400.
