3. Jawaharlal Nehru University
Established in 1969, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is a public central varsity located in the national capital.
The varsity named after first prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, was founded by Indira Gandhi. G. Parthsarthi was its first vice-chancellor and the institution was established with an aim to promote research and teaching in the country.
In the year 2012, the university garnered rating points of 3.9 out of a possible 4 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, which is the highest grade awarded to any educational institution in the country.
With a campus that is spread over approximately 1000 acres of land on the Aravali range, the university houses a green and open area that is highly conducive for learning. Presently the institution hosts about 7,300 students, from all parts of the country and abroad.
