Hiring Sees 23percent Growth In September: Report
NEW DELHI: Hiring activity expanded 23 percent last month and the upward trend is expected to continue in the coming months, says a report. The Naukri Job Speak Index for September was at 1,518 indicating 23 percent growth in hiring, compared to the same month last year. On a month-on-month basis, the index witnessed a growth of 2.70 percent during September as against August 2014.
"The Naukri Job Speak Index has been growing steadily for the past two months, suggesting a sustained momentum in hiring activity. We expect the upward growth trend to continue in coming months," Info edge (India) Managing Director and CEO Hitesh Oberoi said.
The hiring sentiment remained positive with sectors such as Banking and IT seeing an increase of 52 percent and 34 percent respectively last month, compared a year ago.
Apart from the Banking and IT sectors, the oil & gas and pharma sectors have also seen a growth of 35 percent and 28 percent respectively in the index in September.
Amongst the metros, Bangalore and Pune saw maximum growth, y-o-y. That was followed by Hyderabad and Chennai which saw 23 percent and 20 percent growth respectively.
Cities such as Mumbai and the Delhi NCR region have also seen y-o-y growth of 18 percent and 17 percent respectively. Kolkata shared their optimism with its hiring index moving up by 15 percent last month.
