Good news for MBA aspirants: IIMs Add 115 More Seats

After a gradual fall in the number of applicants for CAT over last five years, the previous year saw the number of entries, go up slightly. Owing to a raise in number of seats, plus the gradual swell in the number MBA aspirants, IIMs are anticipating a 10 percent increase in the number of sign ups this year.

As per Rohit Kapoor, CAT 2013 convenor, the raise in the number of seats is going to encourage greater number of students to appear for CAT 2013. And he added that, the raise in the number of CAT takers is because young aspirants see a greater chance of signing up for one of the 13 IIMs in the country. 

The report also added that the number of female entries for CAT 2010 was 53,700. This number steadily rose to 56,000 in 2011, and further added 4,800 entries in 2012 and stood at 60,800.  And the IIMs initiative to give additional points to female applicants is bound to have a positive impact on the number of female entries in common admission test this year.
