Exciting Yet Underrated College Majors
Anthropology
Anthropology is the science of humanity and what can be more exciting than studying about our self.
As an anthropologist you will study the origin and evolution of humans (i.e. Homo sapiens), human behavior, human physical traits, organization of human cultural and social relations, variations among different groups of humans, how the evolutionary past of humans has influenced our cultural and social organization, and more.
Though anthropology majors offers intellectually exciting courses, prepares students for excellent jobs and opens doors for various career paths, the fact is that job opportunities and success in this field are forged by the individual and not by the program that one follows in the college. Presently anthropology grads face stifling unemployment, forcing nearly one third to take low paying sales or office jobs. Although this field offers great job satisfaction for an individual deeply interested in knowing the cultural and social aspects of human society, it remains one of the hardest career options wherein only the creamy layer is expected to survey and earn a living.
