eBay, PayPal India 'Uploads' Fresh Engineering Graduates

BANGALORE: eBay announced the recruitment of around 100 graduates, largely from tier 1 engineering colleges. Of these recruits, a majority will work with the PayPal India Development Center and the remaining with the eBay Product Development Center – at their Chennai and Bangalore offices.

The fresh recruits are currently undergoing a gold-standard induction programme, which is a 5-week-long boot camp – unique to the IT industry. The first week of the program called ‘UPLOAD’ includes campus-to-corporate workshops for skill building, customer-centric design workshops, programming exercises, and innovative real-time problem solving projects and presentations. This is coupled with fun activities for team building such as ice-breaker sessions, solving murder mysteries, and quad biking. The new employees have been grouped into cross-functional teams that will offer solutions for some of today’s toughest industry concerns and customer problems. Their ideas will be presented to the top management, with the most viable and effective solutions being passed on for further development. This not only provides an opportunity for fresh graduates to come up with ideas for practical problems and real issues, but also helps in boosting their confidence, improving their communication skills, and exposing them to top management right in the first few weeks of employment.
