Everyone in this world does not have the characteristics that are required to become a boss.  Wally advices that if a person thinks that he can become a boss he should definitely try it out once before making actual commitment. They should think that whether they have the qualities that are required to become a boss.

Based on his evaluation, Wally says that there are four characteristics that he considers when he has to decide that who should become a boss. According to him individuals with the best probability of success are those who accept responsibility, and are eager to make decisions and willing to talk to others about performance. They should also love to help others to achieve success.

Further, Wally mentions that he has observed every possible way to select people for the boss's job. Like, usually they are selected by people above them on the organization. In government organizations selection of bosses takes place with formal testing and assessment. In many organizations it is also seen that teams rotate members through the boss's post. According to him the best way to select the boss is by the team members, they should additionally have the power to de- select.

Wally concludes by saying that if you are a boss it’s time for you to change as we proceed deeper and deeper into the Knowledge Age, the concept of boss as an expert and whip master will become less and less applicable.
