The second largest economy in the Caribbean, Dominican Republic, is the next country in-focus. Eventhough the country is on a positive growth curve the unemployment, government corruption, and inconsistent electric service remains a major issue in this archipelago.

#9. Slovakia

Jobless Rate: 14.3 Percent

Though the current jobless rate may seem to be on the higher side compared to other economies in the world, if one takes a closer look at the historical figures of unemployment rate in the country, it is clear that the figures are on a downward slide.

Unemployment rates were at an all time high during the beginning of this century when the figures had peaked to about 19.2 percent.

#10. Ireland

Jobless Rate: 13.7 Percent

The economy that was once regarded as the Celtic Tiger for its fast paced growth is presently in a slump. It currently houses a shrinking industry and jobless rate in the country is at a 20-year high. The country’s effort to revamp its fortunes post recession has taken a severe beating thanks to issues such as the banking crisis and a disintegrating property market.
