Are Americans Workaholics?
The American employees are also affected with health related problems as around 60 percent of workaholics spend just twenty minutes or even less time to have their food during lunch hours at workplace. This is the main reason why the number of stress related disabilities among Americans has doubled over the years as they ignore their health because of hectic work. They are affected with symptoms of stress which includes frequent headaches, stiff muscles and backaches and other problems. About 67 percent of workaholics are likely to suffer from coronary heart diseases than the people who work for 7 to 8 hours a day. In spite of all these, around 27 percent of the workers in the nation have not taken a personal or a sick leave in the past few years.
In the United States, there is no paid annual leave or paid holidays provided to their employees but there are ten national holidays in the country starting from the New Year Day; Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr; Washington’s Birthday; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Columbus Day; Veterans Day; Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
In country like America, they don’t have time even to take holidays as they are surrounded with hectic work everyday. One in three employees in the U.S. takes up the vacation days.
