Curt Tryggestad, superintendent of the Little Falls Community Schools told that his visits to the Apple were extraordinary and he was amazed to sit in a room with Apple vice presidents.
Apples invited educators around the country to small executive briefings, which participants described as equal parts conversation, seminar and backstage pass. The demand for technology in classrooms has given rise to an efficient and fast-growing sales force. Makers of computers and others gear energetically to encourage educators, as they compete for billions of dollars in school financing.
Conducting events like lavish dinner, golf outings etc might seem unremarkable in the business world, but the courtship of public school officials entrusted with tax dollars is a more sensitive matter. Some critics also told that the trips could cast doubt on the impartiality of the official's buying decisions. This can shape the way millions of students learn.
