What is the Future of 'Gen Y' Workers?
Bangalore: Youngsters are looking for different ways to settle down in their professional life and one among them is through the social networking site Facebook. A Gen Y survey was conducted on over 50 million Facebook users by a Boston-based agency, Millennial Branding. The experts have found that most of the young people are using Facebook for both personal and professional reasons. They are building friendship with an average of 16 co-workers in each friend group. Skip Freeman, a Job Expert and Executive Recruiter said that many companies are now looking for candidates with the knowledge of current events and relevant experiences, that don’t require investment in training and development, reports Jeena Goudreau from Forbes.
Most of the youth are using Facebook and other social networking sites as extension for their professional profile. The report found that 84 percent of Facebook users include at least one co-worker on their profile and 53 percent of users include five or more co-workers and 40 percent consider more than 10 colleagues as their friend.
