IIT Kharagpur

Dropping one position from its 2010 ranking the institution is placed at number 4 in the list of India’s best engineering colleges. The institute receives more funding as compared with the other IITs of the country and subsidizes the program fee for undergraduate courses by 80 percent. The campus is 120 kms away from Kolkata town and is at a distance of 5 kms from the Kharagpur railway station. IIT Kharagpur has a total of 19 academic departments and 13 schools of excellence under it, apart from the 25 central research and developmental units.

International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad

At number five position is the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad. Known as the first autonomous private institution of its kind, IITH is one of the best computer science institutes in the country. It struggles to make up to the top in terms of infrastructure, but on academic grounds scores 8^th position. It is located in Gachibowli, Hyderabad and is at a distance of about 20 km from the Central Railway station.
