Tech Cos Ditch On-Campus Hiring to Curb Over-Staffing

Bangalore: Job aspirants, be wary! Hunting for jobs is going to become trickier in the coming times. This is due to the IT industry’s latest shift towards just-in-time hiring over the traditional on-campus recruitment. The latest to join this bandwagon is the IT biggie HCL Technologies, reports the Hindu.
The company’s image was badly hit due to the recent controversy over late on-boarding, and in a move to curb any such embarrassments in the future, the tech conglomerate has decided to shift its focus on off-campus hiring. And as per the recent strategy that is targeted to cope with the problem of over-capacity, the company has decided to intake nearly 67 percent of fresh graduates through just-in-time staffing policy.
Naveen Narayanan, Senior Vice President – Human Resources, was quoted saying in an interview to the Hindu, “We took a rap on our knuckles, and we did learn from it. A lot of our problem was a legacy issue, wherein we hired somewhere in 2010 for a business situation in 2013”.
