IITs Hint Bumper Placement For Graduates This Year
BANGALORE: With the buzz in pre-placement offers, the campuses of Indian Institutes of Technology are lively this year with pre-placement proceedings. Despite the slowing economy, these campuses have seen an increase in the number of such offers this year and many companies are even hiring students who worked with them as interns, reports by Sreeradha D Basu & Devina Sengupta of ET.
With the first set of pre-placement offers now being handed out at India's leading IITs, the scenario at some of the IITs have seen a big rush and this situation is pointing to a near-term bumper placement season for the grads.
Among the companies who have lined up for the international offers is Microsoft which has offered salary of 79.5 lakh per annum for Redmond-based posts, followed by Deloitte with 21.3 lakh for domestic profiles.
Facebook, too joined the list for overseas job offers for IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur. while Microsoft has made offers at IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee. Although the social networking company has not disclosed salary details to the colleges, it is expected to offer at least $120,000, which was in-line with last year's pay package.
Several other top recruiters who made lucrative offers at IIT campuses, included Schlumberger, Directi, Adobe, Reliance, Shell Technology, Cadbury , Qualcomm, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, HUL, ITC, Samsung, VMWare, Samsung Research, LinkedIn, VizExperts, Works Application, Goldman Sachs (Tech) Intuit, Futures First, and P&G.
With the internships at IITs set to end in August, the first PPOs are trickling their way to a start and the flow will gather momentum by mid –September and October, and will continue till December 1st, when the campus placement season begins.
