BANGALORE: It’s no surprise that fast food workers, cashiers and amusement park attendants don’t pull in a high pay packs on the job—but did you also know that gigs like architect or an optometrist earn fairly small paychecks, too? Well, a high profile college degree and a prestigious job doesn't necessarily mean you'll be raking in the cash.
Here is list of some of the most glamorous jobs that have surprisingly low earnings, as reported by Max Nisen,Aaron Taube of Business Insider.
Optometrists
Average annual earnings: 2.33 lakh (As per Pay Scale)
It’s quite surprising to see optometrists on this list, but you got to face the reality. Optometrists examine eyes and other parts of the visual system. They also diagnose, treat visual problems, and give necessary advices when needed.
Even though most optometrists work in high street practices which may be independent or part of a regional or national chain of health care, these individuals earn lesser pay as compared to a physician or dentists, who undergo a similar amount of training.
When it comes to job requirements, a Bachelor's degree is required, followed by a four-year trained course in optometry school to earn a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.)
