Brain teasers isn’t really useful
Google has a repute for hammering candidates with brain teaser questions to think outside the box. However, this doesn’t determine how well an employee will perform in the actual work setting.
“Everyone likes to ask case questions and brain-teasers. It turns out our data shows that there is no correlation between your ability to do that (answers brain-teasers questions) and performance.”

According to Bock, people are generally biased and when it comes to interviews, the decision can be made in the first 10 seconds. The person taking the interview will then find qualities in the candidate that are based on the hypothesis he created.
Hence, to avoid that Google has included a hiring committee that maintains the quality of the staff and forthcoming employees.
Managers don’t have all the power
Most managers forget that they were once employees as well. Bock said, “We’ve all been managed and what we want is just to get our work done. Somebody says take that hill, we will figure out how to do it, we just want to get it done.”
