5 Nation With Highest Disparity In Pay

#4 China: China follows as fourth overall with 26 percent, and is second on the list of emerging countries. The major reason for the increasing gap in pay is China’s move towards an industrialized nation, where blue-collar workers are respected. Due to the often physical nature of the work, the gender gap is most obvious among blue-collar workers, where jobs require little skill or education. Despite women in china having educational gains, they still continue to lag behind men in employment, income, business ownership, research and politics. This pattern of inequality suggests that societal expectations and cultural norms regarding the appropriate roles for men and women as well as inherent biological differences between the sexes are limiting the benefits of women gaining equality with men. In fact the vast pool of labor available means workers compete for jobs but in China women are made to prepare to lower their expectations to secure an income that can support their families.
