46 Percent New Hires Fail Because of Attitudinal Deficits
Bangalore: Every organization has its own culture and it expects the employees to acquire the attitude which matches with that culture. The attitude a high performer carries in the workplace vary from culture to culture, says Mark Murphy in his book “Hiring for Attitude”. In this fast competitive world, you can see huge competition between the youngsters around the world where the sole focus is on studies and on getting skilled to secure a job. They seemed to be least bothered about the attitude they must carry in their workplace.
In the book “Hiring for Attitude” the author explains that most of the new hires fail because of lack of attitudinal deficits. According to a study conducted by Murphy and team on 20,000 new hires, approximately 46 percent of the new hires failed within the 18 months of joining as around 89 percent of the time they failed because of attitudinal deficits and just around 11 percent of the time they failed because of lack of skills.
