With an average salary of around $92,138, tech pros in Philly saw a 7.5 percent jump in pay compared to the previous year, which is remarkable. And these figures catapulted Philadelphia into the league of 10 best paying cities for techies, which is a far cry away from last year's rankings where it was placed at the 17^th position.

8. Houston

The 1.8 percent drop in median wage proved to be costly for the aerospace capital of Texas. It fell two places compared to the previous year’s rankings. Yet the average tech salary of approximately $92,475 was enough for this metropolitan to land a spot in the top 10.
