Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has announced the launch of its new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Experience Zone and Design Studio in London. This move highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to the United Kingdom (UK) and its long-standing partnership with the country’s economy. As part of its strategic plan, TCS will also create 5,000 new jobs across the UK over the next three years, further strengthening its role as one of the largest technology employers in the region.

For over five decades, TCS has played a major role in driving digital transformation for UK enterprises and nurturing local talent. The company already supports around 42,000 jobs directly and indirectly in the UK. With the opening of the new AI Experience Zone and Design Studio, TCS aims to boost innovation and foster collaboration with clients in different industries. The new facilities are part of a reimagined version of TCS’s flagship PacePort network, designed to promote co-creation, experimentation, and the use of advanced technologies like AI. The London studio is the second of its kind after New York and will serve as a key hub for innovation, bringing together academia, startups, and technology partners across the UK to design AI-driven solutions for businesses.

The launch comes at a time when India and the UK are strengthening their economic ties. Jason Stockwood, Minister for Investment, United Kingdom, expressed his appreciation for Tata Group’s continued support to the UK economy. He said, “I was delighted to visit the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) campus in Mumbai to see their technological innovation first-hand. For nearly 150 years, Tata Group has reflected leadership in entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Now, as we celebrate a landmark Prime Ministerial visit to India, we have reaffirmed the pledge between our two economies to maximise the trade deal we signed in July. As a valued investor for the UK, Tata Group and its companies like TCS are central to this mission which ultimately will create jobs, put money in people’s pockets, and deliver economic growth across both countries”.

During the visit of the UK Prime Minister’s business delegation to TCS’s Banyan Park campus in Mumbai, Minister Stockwood and the TCS leadership team launched a report by Oxford Economics that detailed TCS’s contribution to the UK economy. The report highlighted that in FY2024, TCS contributed £3.3 billion to the UK economy and paid more than £780 million in taxes, an amount equivalent to the salaries of over 20,000 teachers. The company supported 42,700 jobs across 19 sites in the UK, including 15,300 employees in key technology roles such as engineering and data analytics. These roles are especially important given that the UK’s digital skills gap is estimated to cost the economy about £1.5 billion every year.

Nick Mayes, Principal Analyst at PAC, an industry analyst firm, said that TCS’s new investments strengthen its leadership position in the UK’s technology landscape. “This latest investment from TCS reinforces its position as the leading provider of critical digital services in the UK. It supports complex, transformational programmes across many industry sectors, and this enhanced capability will put it in a strong position to help its clients harness the full potential of AI”, he said.

TCS works with a wide range of clients in the UK across industries such as financial services, retail, manufacturing, life sciences, and public services. Its continued investments are focused on expanding delivery centers, driving research and innovation, and building a strong talent ecosystem. The company has been actively working with universities and government programs to promote STEM education and digital literacy. Its ‘Partnering for Skills’ initiative aims to reskill more than 12,000 people for technology-driven jobs, in line with the UK government’s efforts to create a future-ready workforce.

Beyond its business achievements, TCS also plays an active role in supporting local communities. The company has been involved in initiatives focused on education, health, and social inclusion. One of its most prominent partnerships is with the London Marathon, where it serves as the title sponsor. The 2024 TCS London Marathon broke its own record, raising £73.5 million for charities   the highest amount ever raised for a single-day charity event. Through such programs, TCS continues to promote digital inclusion and youth empowerment while making a positive social impact across the UK.
