Infosys, one of the leading players in India's IT services sector, is planning to increase its workforce by recruiting over 20,000 new graduates in the next financial year 2026. This massive recruitment drive follows the company's decision to lay off 400 trainees who failed evaluation tests.

Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka said, "We expect to hire more than 20,000 freshers." The company's headcount increased modestly by 199 employees in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2025. Infosys hired 6,388 employees in FY25, taking its total headcount to 323,578.

After this expansion, the company witnessed an increase in its attrition rate from 13.7% in the last quarter to 14.1% in the fourth quarter. Infosys also witnessed an 11.7% fall in its consolidated net profit for the March quarter, which came at ₹7,033 crore, from ₹7,969 crore during the same period last year.

Besides, the IT behemoth has done a major part of its employee salary hikes, with the rest of the adjustments to be effective from April 1. Sanghrajka affirmed at the company's Q4FY25 press conference: "We are on track with wage adjustments. A substantial portion of the salary increments was implemented in January, with the remainder effective from April 1."

The employees' average pay hike stands at 5-8%, but the good performers can look for an increase of 10-12%. Infosys had earlier planned to hire as many as 20,000 freshers in fiscal year 2025. In spite of its challenges, the firm exceeded its own fiscal 2024-25 revenue guidance, upping it to 4.5-5%, a hike from the initial guidance of 3.75-4.50%.

Infosys CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh highlighted the company's robust performance parameters: "Our performance for the year has been strong in revenues, growth in operating margins, and the highest ever generation of free cash. Our skills in AI, cloud, and digital, combined with our cost focus, automation, and consolidation, enable us to address our clients' needs."

Infosys continues to focus on utilizing its strengths in digital solutions, cloud, and AI to serve client needs with a very strong thrust on cost and automation as it aims to grow the workforce and improve service delivery.
