HCLTech to Hire 10,000 Freshers this Year, says CEO Vijayakumar

HCL Technologies CEO and MD C Vijayakumar announced the company's plans to hire 10,000 freshers during the current financial year, citing a growth of 5.4% in the present market environment. Vijayakumar emphasized the need for skilled talent to support the company's growth trajectory, making the increase in headcount expected. He acknowledged that lateral hiring would depend on how the year progresses.

In the March quarter, HCLTech added over 2,700 employees, highlighting the company's focus on workforce expansion. Despite facing challenges such as weak client spending, geopolitical shocks, high inflation, and economic uncertainties, HCLTech reported a net profit of Rs 3,986 crore for the March quarter. However, on a sequential basis, the net profit experienced an 8.4% decrease.

Vijayakumar's comments underline HCLTech's commitment to investing in talent and navigating the current complex market environment to maintain the company's growth and profitability.

HCL Technologies reported a 7.11% increase in revenue from operations in the fourth quarter of FY24, reaching Rs 28,499 crore compared to the previous year. The full fiscal year saw net profit rise by 5.7% to Rs 15,702 crore. CEO and MD C Vijayakumar highlighted the success of projects such as cloud migration and generative AI, noting that verticals like financial services could face challenges. He also expressed optimism about prospects in the semiconductor and automotive sectors.

The company is actively investing in AI talent, with over 25,000 employees already trained and plans to train at least 50,000 more this year, leveraging generative AI. HCLTech's focus includes the AI developer community, with over 2,000 individuals dedicated to this area. The company is engaged in several projects, each under USD 10 million, which showcases its commitment to advancing AI technologies and staying competitive in the market.
