The government's eShram portal, designed to assist unorganized workers nationwide, has surpassed 30 crore registrations within just three years of its launch. The integration of social security schemes into eShram will facilitate the widespread reach and accessibility of these programs for eligible workers registered on the platform.

According to the Union Budget 2024-25, comprehensive integration of eShram portal with other government websites will facilitate a ‘One-Stop-Solution’. Launched on August 26, 2021, the initiative aims to facilitate access of various social security schemes being implemented by different ministries and departments to unorganized workers through the eShram portal. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has reached out to other ministries, including the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), and Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), among others, urging them to expedite the registration of unorganized workers under their jurisdiction on the eShram portal. The eShram-One Stop Solution is envisioned as a facilitator, ensuring smooth and easy access to various government schemes for unorganized workers.

"This will help in creating awareness of the schemes meant for unorganized workers while ensuring saturation of the schemes through identification of left-out potential beneficiaries”, said the Ministry of Labour and Employment. As part of the project, the ministry has been working to integrate major schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM-SVANidhi), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G), Ration Card scheme etc. for the benefit of the unorganized workers.

The government emphasized the importance of onboarding all unorganized workers to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach every worker at the grassroots level. This includes health workers such as ASHA and Anganwadi workers, as well as those working in villages, gram panchayats, sabhas, parishads, building and construction projects, including MGNREGA workers, and other similar labor groups.
