Bangalore: The use of social networking websites for recruiting is increasing rapidly in companies. Linkedin is the most used site for recruiting with 95 percent of companies. While Facebook stands at second place with 58 percent, Twitter at 42 percent and professional association sites at 23 percent. The Society for Human Resources Management reports that the number of companies using social networking sites to recruit has increased to 56 percent in 2011 from 34 percent in 2008.

Will Staney, Director of recruiting at Success Factors, who is considered as a pioneer in the recruiting industry videotaped hiring managers and employees and this idea of him gave potential candidates an insight into a particular position by attaching the videos to job descriptions on Facebook and YouTube. He believes that this human approach is a key to success in recruiting.

Another HR expert, Jeremy Langhans, Head of global brand and talent attraction at Expedia says that "When I looked at the ROI (return on investment) from our different channels such as LinkedIn, our own website and agencies, I realized we were hiring more people through social media than through agencies and while the average fee to an agency is about 20 percent of a person's salary".

Cisco is doing a great work in this direction of going social and implementing new methods. Cisco WebEx Social Brings Social Collaboration to Mobile Devices, Email and Business Productivity Applications. This makes it possible for people to participate in social collaboration, regardless of where they are working, by bringing social capabilities to the devices and applications that workers use most often.

Companies are coming with new innovations to rapidly hire the top talented professionals to compete with other companies and social media is the most promising and productive way in this digital friendly social era.
