Xiaomi Announces New Sub-Brand Mi Ecosystem by Rolling Out 'Smart Rice Cooker'
BENGALURU: Xiaomi has managed to garner a lot of rave reviews with its famous mobile products, tablets and smart TVs, the Chinese giant is stepping out for home appliances with some major products that are already available in the market including air purifiers, water purifiers and security sensors. Recently, the company has announced the launch of Mi Ecosystem, a sub-brand to cover all the products manufactured by Xiaomi’s ecosystem partners. The first product from the new brand is induction heating pressure rice Cooker.
Reportedly, Xiaomi has invested in 55 companies for designing and manufacturing the products for the new sub-brand beyond the company’ own three product categories comprising smartphone, smart TVs and smart routers. The company reports that seven out of these 55 firms have annual sales of over 100 million Yuan while two have reached sales of over 1 billion Yuan. “I wanted the ecosystem to promote an upgrade in Chinese manufacturing sector with a new concept of ‘Made in China’ products," says Lei Jun, founder and CEO, Xiaomi. – reports The Verge.
The smart pressure cooker offers temperature up to 105 degrees Celsius or 221 degrees Fahrenheit and has a magnetic relief valve to precisely control the pressure inside. The lining material is grey cast iron that has undergone 69-step process. It is a Wi-Fi compatible cooker and can be connected with the user’s smartphone Mi Home app. The app fetches large variety of benefits; for instance it helps users to scan the barcode on the rice packaging enabling the cooker to identify and cook the rice based on its type, brand, origin and users’ preferred softness. Xiaomi has not categorized the types of rice but it did mention a list of over 200 brands, while assuring further expansion in the list in the near future. Users can also prepare 2,000 combinations of cooking methods, for that they simply have to select the recipes in the app for the cooker to adjust itself.
