Johns Hopkins University was started in 1876 with Daniel Coit Gilman as its first president. Parsons The New School for Design is the most prestigious art and design universities in the world. William Merritt Chase, an impressionist painter, established the school in 1896, thus this institution was earlier called as Chase school.  New York School of Art, New York School of Fine and Applied Art and Parsons School of Design were the other names of this institution.
